Eating my way through NYC

February 9, 2009

Last weekend I went to NYC to visit a friend for her birthday and we spent most of our trip eating (and shopping).  I wanted to share some of the great places we went during our visit.

We arrived late Friday night after hours of traffic, so we didn’t start our adventures until Saturday.  That afternoon we had lunch at Rosario’s Kitchen where I had slice of margarita pizza and garlic knots.  It was a pretty decent slice of New York pizza and the garlic knots were cheesy, garlic filled deliciousness.

After lunch we stopped for coffee and french macaroons at Bouley Bakery.  We shared the chocolate macaroon and a cranberry (along with some other treats that weren’t as memorable).  The cranberry was the perfect texture with a delicious tart filling.  Next time I’d skip the chocolate.

We celebrated the birthday girl at the Antique Garage a Mediterranean style restaurant and then had drinks at the Bubble Lounge, a champagne themed lounge with orange and red decor.  While there, they showed Barbarella on a giant projection screen.  Afterwards we stopped by Anotheroom, beer and wine bar.  They even serve one of the few beers I enjoy; the super sweet raspberry Framboise. Obviously, I’m not a big beer drinker.

Sunday after homemade lemon ricotta pancakes and bacon, we visited Chelsea Market for some Fat Witch brownies.  They were delicious and so filling.  I wasn’t hungry again until late in the afternoon.  After a few hours of shopping, we stopped for salads at a cafe I can’t remember the name of, but they were pretty good, and just what we needed after a weekend of heavy eating.  At that point it was time to catch our bus back to D.C., so we said goodbye to the birthday girl and went home, extremely full.
