2008 National Book Festival

September 19, 2008

Remember “I” before “E” except after “C.”

While this isn’t a foodie event, it’s definitely a worthwhile event I wanted to give everyone a heads up about. The 2008 National Book Festival will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2008 on the National Mall, between 3rd and 7th Streets. It will run from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, rain or shine. With the way the economy is going these days, all will be happy to hear it is FREE!

It will be hosted by First Lady Laura Bush (a former librarian). Appearing with her will be Jenna Bush, First Daugther and author. Together Mrs. Bush and Jenna wrote Read All About It!

The National Book Festival is a who’s who of literary figures from all types of genres including children’s literature, poetry, non-fiction, fiction, history/biography, mystery, and home & family/travel. There will be over 70 authors appearing and having book signings. The list of authors includes: Tiki Barber (The Today Show, formerly of the NY Giants), Marc Brown (creater of Arthur the aardvark), R.L. Stein (Goosebumps series), Joseph Bruchac (Poet I’ve previously read in my American Poets and the Natural World class), Sir Salman Rushdie (The Satanic Verses), and Arthur Frommer (of the travel guides) to name a few.

Mark it on your calendars.
